Urban Planning Concept Award

For projects which are still in their concept stage, where innovative planning solutions have been identified through which existing challenges in a given space may be addressed. The plan needs to highlight the likely positive impact it may create on the physical or environmental quality of a place.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Submissions can only be made by a local warranted Perit, a practicing firm of architects or students reading for an undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral research course within the Faculty of the Built Environment at the University of Malta.


Submission requirements

  • The project entry name and site location;
  • An abstract of the project, describing the architect/students’s design concept intention, supported by a statement outlining the purpose for which the project is intended and why the project is being submitted as an entry for this category.
  • A brief history of the site and any planning constraints that had to be overcome or taken into account at concept stage.
  • A maximum of 10 drawings, sketches, diagrams and photos showing how the project may evolve from concept to the final stage.
  • A minimum of 8 sets of photographs/illustrations showing the actual and proposed designs from different viewpoints of the site.
