Subtle metal detailing, custom furnishings, and carefully chosen materials create a cohesive, welcoming environment that includes principles of sustainability. Every change harmonizes old and new, adapting the building for modern living while honouring its character. This project transformed a challenging, narrow 19th-century residence in Valletta into a functional two-bedroom apartment. Much thought in the design was given to maximizing natural light and creating an inviting, corridor-free flow from the entrance to the living areas above. By using interlinked spaces, double-height areas, and reflective materials, the renovation aimed to enhance connectivity while honouring the building’s original fabric. Significant alterations over time meant uncovering hidden structures. The main strategy involved creating a long visual link by combining fragmented rooms into a cohesive living space, improving light penetration and flow throughout the property.

Architecture Three Sixty
The aim was to transform a neglected Maltese townhouse into a family-friendly rental. Given the property’s limited open space, semi-outdoor areas were introduced by creating a gap between the old and new structures. Small openings and geometric shapes add visual interest to the courtyard, reflecting Mediterranean architecture. This approach, playing with the architectural fabric in 3D, adds depth and visual interest to every room overlooking the courtyard. The design emphasizes a contemporary Mediterranean aesthetic with whitewashed walls, terrazzo, and exposed timber, ensuring a memorable living experience. This project exemplifies interior architecture, elevating the space through innovative design.
