AP Valletta

This complex restoration project stands out for its exemplary holistic approach, where discoveries during works fed into the decision-making process.  The use of the latest technology in the restoration and conservation process and the transdisciplinary methodology, backed by an exhaustive historical and archival research, gloriously reintroduced the structural integrity of the tower and spire, meticulously repristinating the historical elements that were lost during the lifespan of the tower.

The restoration of the Oratories of the Immaculate Conception and of the Assumption of Our Lady (Onorati) at the Jesuit Church in Valletta truly deserves a commendation for the unveiling and resumed life given to two jewels hidden in plain sight.  The way that the restoration of the timber roof was addressed together with high-standard interventions are a prime example of an exercise in listening to the stories these spaces had to tell, in order to be truly rediscovered.

Heritage Malta

Defined as the embodiment of a nation, for over 450 years the Grand Master’s Palace has played a significant and consistent role in hosting the country’s head of state.  The enhancement of its valorisation, through a meticulous conservation, restoration and rehabilitation agenda deserved this commendation. This very interesting and complex project has thus managed to retain the marks of time while preserving its fabric.

Infrastructure Malta

What decades ago would not even have been remotely considered for retention let alone restoration, is now being rightfully appreciated and kept in use, as part of our rich industrial maritime heritage. This bold decision on a comparatively small – yet very interesting – project was the reason behind this commendation.  This project makes a strong case for the need to safeguard our industrial post-war heritage which is often at times less appreciated and perceived as being dispensable.
