Urban Planning Concept Award Winner 2021

Location

Voids as Activators

Students

Maria Bilocca and Mireille Tabone

The theme that inspired the project is detoxifying architectural approaches that could be imagined for a sustainable future.  The project is an investigation of voids – forgotten, wasted or dead spaces within the industrial estate of Kordin, with the intent to activate the voids and rethink the food and material industries, and their waste.  The concept, as presented, is very well articulated and detailed, having insightful visualisations that reflect the depth of thought of the students who proposed it.
