The proposal for the regeneration of Wied is-Sewda Valley aims at bringing life back to a neglected area in the centre of Malta. This masterplan regeneration proposal aims at reconnecting the area to the community, finally benefiting from its green valley. Termed as a “super solution for an actual no place”, this entry was considered as a winning submission thanks to the reinstatement of the quality of a valley within the city. This concept embodies a true environmental treatment, with climate resilient infrastructure, setting it as a flagship example of place-making, which manages to connect elements separated through the decades.

This project was termed as a unique intervention in a very sensitive area aimed at the much-needed urban reintegration of disconnected spaces. Combining a welcoming environment and innovative strategies of corporate social responsibility with the rich architectural heritage of Valletta, the proposal envisions a renovated and accessible urban landscape, serving as key unifying element of the development.

Project Green

The Ġebel San Martin, Żejtun neighborhood regeneration project emerged as part of a comprehensive masterplan aimed at tackling challenges within the residential area. The overarching goals include improving the quality, accessibility, and community engagement of public spaces, all contributing to the creation of a sustainable urban environment.  A thorough consultation process – across all ages – was commended.  This resulted in a community-driven, safe design, which is only set to succeed.
